Chapter #110
Barbara Curtin Memorial Scholarship
Barbara Curtin was a member of NAWIC for many years. She was a vocal proponent of women in the construction industry and she had many friends and associates that strongly supported her.
Barbara struggled with the obstacles of being a woman in the construction industry while raising her daughter on her own and suffering from severe arthritis. Barbara worked very hard to forge a path for herself and all women in the construction industry. She was an inspiration to everybody she came in contact with and was known to have a wonderful sense of humor. Someone once referred to her as "the light in the room" - what a wonderful compliment to give someone!
NAWIC Chapter #110 annually awards the Barbara Curtin Memorial Scholarship as an extension of what she believed in and worked for. It is awarded to give support and encouragement to women and men so that they may follow their ideals and dreams and enjoy all the successes in their career in the construction industry.
